Workers Prep New Grafton Food Pantry For Nov. 7 Relocation

Volunteers began work Friday to prepare the Grafton Food Pantry's new home. Sun City Woodchucks started by assembling 45 feet of new shelving donated by the Jewel-Osco supermarket chain.

Pantry President Kathy Schneiter said the Pantry will begin service Nov. 7 at 11481 Allison Court, a left turn and just down the street, from its present Smith Drive location.  Mortgage problems with that donated warehouse there and a merger with Faith Community Church's Food Pantry forced the Pantry to move to a bigger donated facility.

Schneiter said the last day for service at Smith Drive will be Nov. 5 with operations resuming  two days later at Allison Court.  Monday hours will be changed, she said, with evening service from 4 to 7 pm.  "That's to help families with daytime jobs," said Schniter.  Hours on Wednesdays and Fridays will remain unchanged, 1 to 4 pm.

Board member Harriet Ford reports there's still a lot of equipment the Pantry needs, however.  Here's a list:

Industrial  warehouse programmable thermostat
2 utility cabinets
8 foot rolling stairs
Window treatments for 4 windows
3 Tack/bulletin Boards for notices, jobs, news articles
8 padded folding chairs
3 coat racks
Notebook Computer
Copy paper
Digital scale for food
4 no touch soap dispensers (Simple Human or Lysol)
Heavy duty floor mats

The Pantry's phone is : 847-495-0922

The Grafton Food Pantry has nothing to do with Linda Moore. Please don't confuse the situation.

Thank you to the entire Pantry Board of Directors, to Tom Manning, to the Woodchucks and all who help this wonderful pantry on a day to day basis. Please keep your checks and donations coming- the need is great during these tough times.

I hope the poster at 10:34 this morning is being sarcastic! This is the food pantry that Linda Moore kicked out of the township. This is the food pantry that Linda Moore refused to admit that it existed for months. To this k Linda Moore has anything to do with this food pantry is an insult to everyone involve in it!

I was worried for a moment. I thought we wouldn't see pam fenders name connected with this.

Let's keep the eye on the ball here, folks. This article isn't about Moore's shortcomings, or the nonsense surrounding her term. This is about the hard work the volunteers of the Food Pantry continue to put forth towards the betterment of this community and its residents. These workers and those who run the pantry should be commended for their efforts.

To the Editor:

Would you please clarify the difference between the Smith Drive/Allison Court Grafton Township Food Pantry and that of Supervisor Moore, so that these wonderful people get the credit they deserve?

Thank you

You'll find a summary on that in a FEN story six weeks ago:

Sorry, you'll need to copy and paste that into the address bar; hyperlinks don't seem to work in the comment section.--ed.

Linda Moore, Grafton Supervisor, kicked out the Grafton Food Pantry and started her own. The Grafton Food Pantry on Allison serves the community and is easily accessable to folks. And they have great teamwork in getting things done.
