Second Algonquin Cleanup Heavy On Electronics

Computers, printers and VCR's from the 90's were the top castoffs at Algonquin's Fall Cleanup and Recycling Drop-Off at Presidential Park Monday.  "There was a lot more electronics and less everything else," said Senior Planner Katie Parkhurst.  By Noon more than 100 residents had cycled through the recycling event.

The event was Algonquin's second this year to help residents get rid of and recycle all the junk that's not allowed in regular trash pickups.  In Spring the Cleanup's a Saturday event but the in Fall the Village holds the second one on Columbus day for weekend workers.  "We also have more volunteers then because the kids are out of school," said Deputy Clerk Michelle Weber.  "That way we can run it longer."

This is a very service and I hope the village continues events like this in the future. The folks working the clean up were friendly and courteous.
