Cubs from Huntley Pack 267 hawked Pecatonica River Popcorn while Twice-Baked Algonquin singer Dave Gutshall crooned from the gazebo at Huntley's penultimate Farmers' Market of the season Saturday. The last will be next Saturday on the Square from 8 am to 1 pm.
Pecatonica River Popcorn's the hard-to-get Wisconsin brand exclusive to the Scouts' Blackhawk Area Council (and 22 others who've joined the bandwagon since 1983). The scouts were selling regular, carmel, cheddar, chocolate lovers and, new this year, jalapeno cheese flavors. Cub popcorn peddler Zach Stewart said the zesty jalopena was proving popular. "We've only got a couple of cans left here," but we've got more." For popcorn fans who don't have a Scout in the neighborhood, the number to call is 947-483-4772; ask for Crystal.

We purchased popcorn from these scouts this week and last week. We got the "jalopena" both times....it's delicious! Good work, scouts! I hope you raise a lot of money.
