Run For Bear Race Sets Entry Record Again In Algonquin

Algonquin's 19th annual Run For the Bear 5K/10K race for the Chicago area's largest nonprofit pediatric cancer organization went out with a record-shattering 850 entrants crowding the starting line at Eastview Elementary Sunday.  Next year the race will become a kids-only event, according to organizer Kim Kublank.  "We just thought it was time to take it back to the children," she said.

In fact, while the top finisher in the 10K was Chicago runner Corey Waddell, 13 year-old Garrett Brenizer was the fourth overall. A nine year-old Algonquin boy was fourth in the 5K, too.
