Mathew Helsper, 90, of Huntley died peacefully Sunday. A visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 8 pm with a service at 7 pm at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home, Huntley. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
Helsper was born Sept. 23, 1922, the son of Joseph and Mary (Balmes) Helsper. On August 8, 1945 he married Jean E. Ellis. He is survived by his three children, Sandra Helsper of Elgin, Gail (Rod) Rich of Tubac, AZ, and Thomas (Laura) Helsper of Elgin; his grandchildren, Christine Johnson, Dan Leonhardt, Maggie Purtell, Matt Hills, Neil Helsper and Eric Helsper and by his brother, Francis Helsper (Arlene). He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and his wife.
John Patrick DeFiore, 49, of Chicago, died peacefully at his home. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm Tuesday at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home, Huntley. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntley. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
DeFiore was born Aug. 9, 1963, in Chicago, the son of Robert and Carol (Byrne) DeFiore. He is survived by his parents, Bob and Carol DeFiore of Huntley; brother, Bob DeFiore (Sharon) of Chicago; sisters, Julie Arza (Jorge), of Crystal Lake, Mari Kaiser of Lindenhurst and Carol Lynn DeFiore of Huntley. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Mae Byrne and Robert and Mamie DeFiore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Shriner’s Children Hospital or American Diabetes Association.

We are so sorry that you lost a brother. He was so young. Our thoughts are with you and your family in this time of sorrow. You have done so much for others in easing grief whenever a loved one has died. It is now your time to have comfort from the friends you have made here.
