Dave Foley, owner of Algonquin's newest sports bar and restaurant, Foley's Pub in Prestwicke Plaza, reported business is good after a month's ramping up since he first opened his doors. Located at the site of the former Jimmy D's Neighborhood Inn, Foley said, "I'm getting the neighbors back now and it's working pretty well."
An electrical worker for 30 years ("There's no construction going on."), Foley said he's concentrating on his kitchen since his parents were in the restaurant biz. "This isn't just pub food," he said. Sure, Foley's offers the usual wraps and appetizers, but there's also, for instance, calamari. That's battered deep-fried squid. "Who else has it?" asked Foley. "It's really becoming popular."
Foley said evenings are fine . "I'm getting 50 or 60 people on a Saturday night," he said. Boosting the lunch trade is next on his to-do list, said Foley.
In the pic: Foley's Pub on Algonquin Road adds another neighborhood restaurant to serve western Algonquin, LITH and Huntley. Ask about the squid.
