LITH Woman Gets Four Years For Drunk Driving Fourth Time

McHenry County Judge Joseph Condon sentenced a Lake in the Hills woman, 49 year-old Tammy J. Newsome, to four years in prison for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.  The aggravating cirucmstance was that the conviction was her fourth for drunk driving.

Newsome pleaded guilty in May to the charge from a 2009 incident in which Crystal Lake police chased her car down Randall from McHenry Ave. to Alexandra Blvd before they could stop her. Newsome asked for a minimum three-year sentence but Condon ruled setting off the police pursuit posed a serious risk of harm to the officers.  He also ruled Newsome should pay almost $2,000 in court costs.
