Dogtoberfest (Bow) Wows Canines In Huntley

Deicke Park was the site of Huntley Park District's fourth annual Dogtoberfest celebration of Man's best friend Saturday with more dogs on hand than you could shake a stick at.  ("Ya wanna play fetch? OK. Go fetch the stick, Lassie")

Also on hand were businesses catering to canines.  There were vets. There were trainers. There were walkers and sitters. There were groomers and even dog photographers.  There were, unfortunately, a lot of dog rescuers, too, some generic, some even by specific breed.

Dogtoberfest each year more less coincides with the Feast of St. Francis so, besides the fun like doxie races and peanut butter-eating contests, the event also included a blessing of the beasts by Rev. Michelle McNamara from Marengo's St. John's United Church of Christ.
