Area Republicans turned watching Wednesday evening's Presidential Debate into communal events.
The Republican Party of McHenry County gobbled pizza at Crystal Lake's Cottage pub while they watched. Kane County did it on a township basis with Dundee Township GOP meeting at Emmet's Tavern in West Dundee to nosh on chicken wings.
GOP stalwarts cheered Romney's “Virtually everything he just said about my tax plan is inaccurate” line to the President as Algonquin Kane County Board incumbent Maggie Auger and husband Ray circulated through the small crowd.
State Sen. Chris Lauzen running for Kane County Board Chairman headed the list of local luminaries at the event. Lauzen shadow boxing a blow to the Presidential solar plexus when Romney denied asking for a $5 trillion tax cut and charged Obama spending plans would "raise taxes by $3,000 to $4,000 on middle-income families."
The national consensus this morning was that neither presidential candidate scored a knockout or even drew blood but Romney might have been ahead on judge's points when the bell rang. Next up on the card will be the exciting Vice-Presidential Debate next Thursday.

National consensus was not apparently watching the same debate we were.
They do it kind of like Captain Renault in Casablanca: "Round up the usual suspects."--ed
The tell- How do you know Mitt is Lying? His mouth is moving. Romney Told 27 Myths In 38 Minutes

Sounds like the Dundee Township Republican Party had a nice event. Thank you, Pete, for covering their debate watching party in West Dundee. Kudos to Dundee Township Republican Chairman Ray Auger of Algonquin for turning their monthly meeting into a meaningful experience watching Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney win the first presidential debate.
An additional shout-out to State Senator, and Kane County Board Chairman nominee Chris Lauzen for making the trip from Aurora to watch the debate in the north-end of Kane County.
