Algonquin Walker Dead In Fatal Cary Hit And Run

Sheriff's Deputies are still searching for the hit and run driver whom they believe killed an Algonquin resident walking in unincorporated Cary early Monday morning.  The body of 22 year-old John D. Fennessy, 609 S. Hubbard Street, was found in the 600 block of Cary's East Main Street at about 3:30 am when a second motorist ran over it.  Fennessy was pronounced dead at the scene by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.

McHenry County Undersheriff Andy Zinke said evidence at the location indicated Fennessy was already deceased when the second car struck his body so no charges would be brought against its Cary area driver.

There were no witnesses to either collision but Zinke said there was evidence the vehicle that first struck Fennessy now carries a broken headlight or foglamp. Zinke said anyone with information should call the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office at 815-338-2144 or Crime Stoppers at 800-762-7867.
