Sponsors To Open In Del Toro's, Del Toro's Coming To Fall Fest

Sponsors Restaurant will open in Huntley in a few days in the location of Del Toro's restaurant which shut down in January.  Meanwhile Del Toro's which no longer exists is featured, via Facebook, as one of the food vendors at Huntley's Fall Fest this weekend.  Que pasa?

It's simple, explained former restaurateur Raul Del Toro.  When he was running his Huntley restaurant he was too busy to help with Fall Fest.  Now that it's closed, he isn't.  Del Toro said there were some health department hoops to jump through but they've been cleared so he'll have fajitas, enchiladas, quesadillas, chips and salsa at a Fall Fest booth.  Yep, Del Toro's signature salsa.  "Salsa will be available for purchase," said Del Toro. "Huntley's my community," he said.  "It'll be great to see everyone again.

Meanwhile, Kara Simpson and Scott Sharp are waiting on a State Liquor license so they can open their new Sponsors Bar & Grill in Del Toro's old location.  They're hoping all the paperwork will be finished as soon as next week.

The Sponsors name comes from Sharp's involvement in coaching for the past decade.  "We'll be helping a lot of sports teams," he said.  Both he and Simpson have restaurant backgrounds but then turned to data and marketing.  Now they plan to return to what they see as a simpler time.  "You know when you need a change in life," said Simpson.
