The McHenry County Board Planning and Development Committee's scheduled a series of meetings with the Zoning Board of Appeals later this week and next to review the first draft of a new Unified Development Ordinance regulating growth in unincorporated areas. The UDO's supposed to update and combine the County’s various Zoning, Subdivision, Sign, and ancillary development regulations into a single consistent set of regulations.
Meetings this week are scheduled from 1 to 5 pm in the County Board Meeting Rooms of the McHenry County Administration Building in Woodstock Wednesday and Thursday this week and the same again next Wednesday and Thursday, too. The Planning and Development Committee will accept public comment at the beginning of each one.
Based what the Planning and Development Committee and Zoning Board of Appeals members conclude, consultants will prepare a revised ordinance. The revised draft will be released for an informal public review meeting in late October or early November. Then there'll be a formal public hearing followed by a Board vote on the Ordinance early next year.
