Promising Start To Algonquin Road Lane Closures

Rush hour traffic still moved at a brisk clip Monday, the first day of Algonquin Road lane closures for Route 31 Bypass construction in Algonquin.

"The signs were correct for the last couple of days," said Village Manager Bill Ganek, referring to repeated changes for more than a week about when the closEdowns would kick in.  "The traffic has been moving OK for a construction zone," he said.

More complications are expected, though, when contractors begin to truck fill from the north side of the Bypass site to the south side.  When's that supposed to begin, asked one Algonquin trustee at Tuesday's Village Board meeting?  "They haven't told us yet," said Ganek.
