Ex-Deputy Arraignment For Child Sex Scheduled Today

Former McHenry County Sheriff's Sergeant Gregory Pyle is scheduled to be arraigned in Rockford  this morning on federal Grand Jury indictments Tuesday for crossing state lines to engage in a sexual act with a minor under 12 years of age and using a minor to engage in sexual conduct to produce child pornography.

Pyle's been in federal custody in Boone County since he was fired Aug. 14 after Federal criminal complaints about the same charges were filed. He'd been free on bail and paid leave since January when a McHenry County judge issued a warrant for his arrest for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Crossing a state line to engage in a sexual act with a minor under 12 carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 30 years and a maximum of life in prison, and sexual exploitation of a child under 12 years of age for the purpose of producing child pornography carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison, and both counts carry a $250,000 maximum fine.

Judge Joseph Condon's scheduled to set a trial date Monday on 10 McHenry County charges of child sexual assault against Pyle.
