Waitzman, Moore Both Announce For Grafton Supervisor

The race for Grafton Township Supervisor got off to an early start Wednesday.
Algonquin lawyer Martin Waitzman announced Wednesday afternoon that he wants the job.  Incumbent Linda Moore announced Wednesday evening she intends to keep it.  Nominating petitions for the Feb. 26 primary aren't supposed to begin circulating until Tuesday.

Waitzman, a former Elk Grove Village cop, said his current profession as an attorney and CPA " can greatly benefit the people of Grafton."

Moore, a controversial figure since she took office, said she "has kept her campaign promise to stop the construction of an unnecessary township hall."

At least one other candidate is expected to announce a run for supervisor and two others have been reported Hamletizing about it.  The official bar to run isn't set very high.  Established party candidates only need 14 signatures to make the Consolidated Primary ballot for Grafton Supervisor.

Waitzman and Moore have both been active in Grafton GOP politics.  Waitzman is the current Central Committee Treasurer.  Moore used to be.

Moore has to Go!!!!!! At this point I would vote for Hitler before Moore.

The township hall was dead way before she took office and she sucks at every other aspect of her job anyway.

She should update that picture she has chubbed up at least 30 pounds since it was taken.

I know,I know "they all need to go" Doh! (not really just Moore) Thought I'd post it first! hahahaah

We don't have a building thats true but we do have $700,000 in legal bills because of her.

Do you know what I like about Waitzman? Not very much!!!!

"said she 'has kept her campaign promise to stop the construction of an unnecessary township hall.'"

Yet she has spent all that money on unnecessary legal bills.

So lets get this straigt Moore, you'd rather pay over $500K in legal bills with our money and get nothing in return? As much as I don't want a new town hall I'd rather my money go toward that then all of your stupid legal fees.

Linda Moore has done absolutely nothing for Grafton Township. Even her "promise" to stop the construction of the new township building is untrue. She was one of a GROUP of people to file suit and then she had to remove herself from the lawsuit after getting elected.

Don't be fooled by her antics. She's trying to re-brand herself. She is a wolf in sheep's clothing. She might be all nicey, nicey now,..ie: the Senior Hawaiian Luau...but be sure that she will leave you standing in the cold again if she gets elected to a second term.

Sure, we don't have a new township building, no thanks to Linda Moore.....we just have $600k in legal bills with nothing to show for it. All accumulated AFTER the building issue was settled.

I don't know anything about Waitzman. He may be qualified on paper but does he understand the needs of the township? How is he going to run his business and be an effective township supervisor?

At this point I want someone that I know and trust. Someone with a proven track-record. We need someone who is dedicated to the betterment of the community. Will that candidate please step forward?

Linda Moore has alienated her own siblings, her in-laws and the public is wise to her misdeeds(which are many). Linda Moore should not ever again hold ANY public office.Bye Bye

Not being elected the next supervisor should be the least of Linda's worries. She should worry that she will end up in a pretty orange jumpsuit in a prison somewhere. That's right Linda, anyone who has done this much damage to the township will certainly be found out to be a criminal. Enjoy!

Forget about Electing a new stupidvisor. Lets vote to get rid of the township all together. Do we really need the tax drain?

Moore just love her revisionist history, doesn't she?!?! The only things she stopped in Grafton are: progress, transparency and checks to vendors. She sure is trying to take a ton of credit away from her cronies who were the financial backers in the lawsuit she championed. Also, that Moore picture is quite dated. A better one would be the one showing her aged three years and frumping.

TOWNSHIPS ARE GOOD IF THEY ARE RUN PROPERLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously folks, get off the "get rid of townships" bandwagon. Are you still hung up on the building too???

TOWNSHIPS ARE A WASTE OF TAX DOLLALS GET RID OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the above anyone who thinks townships are useful must collect a paycheck from one or thinking of running for a paid position in one.

In any case Moore still sucks as supervisor vote her out.

Nope.

Don't collect a paycheck (which Linda Moore probably wouldn't give anyway) and I am NOT running for any elected position.

Just saying that townships are an asset to a community. The problem with Grafton is that it is so toxic now, people have a really bad taste in their mouth's. It's really a shame, but nothing will get better until Sybil is out of office.

Finally, and honest-to-God sane, reasonable, professional alternative to Moore's era of legal bills and hidden agendas. Go Marty!!! Go away Moore!!

What makes you think this guy would even do the job ? If he is that great a lawyer he won't have time. He is probably the fillin for who the trustees want. Maybe this time she would stay. This is the same ploy D158 used to get who they wanted on the board but wasn;t elected.

Above "WHAT?" Next time post sober.

Linda Moore is now synonymous with "EPIC FAILURE". I can't wait to hear how definitive she's going to be at being vague.

And here I thought, at last, the voters in Grafton Township would begin to take their township back from the expensive strifing/sniping that has turned Grafton Township into the laughingstock of McHenry County. Just reading the comments by the anonymous cowards here is showing the campaign is headed to the gutter level fast. Descriptions about Linda Moore being "frump" does little. How about talking about her record, her real record as Grafton Township supervisor, not the record she is re-branding.

And Marty Waitzman of Algonquin is the best the anti Linda Moore people could do? Let's see, he's only lived in the township for 6 years. His website picture shows him with a beard, while the pic of him in this article shows him clean-shaven (BTW, he looks better clean-shaven).

Combine that with an unfriendly ballot name, and one must ask, is he the best opposition against Linda Moore? This Grafton Township race reminds me of the village of Lake in the Hills in the mid-1990s after the disasterous village presidency of Tina Thornrose, who won a 5-way village president's race in 1993 with 26% of the vote. At least there, she was removed from office due to malfeasence. It'll take the voters to remove Linda Moore, if they can convince the few voters who will vote on February 26th she needs to be replaced.

And, where are the trustee candidates? If Moore really wants to have a better 2nd term, she needs allies on the township board, so let's keep an eye on who runs for those spots. Petition circulation can start on Tuesday. Hope the Republican primary voters will come out on February 26th.

To "The on coming coward" aka the Hermit I don't see your name anywhere in your post?

Unfriendly ballot name whats that suppose to mean?

Moore isn't going to get a second chance and besides crazy prevents her from ever having "a better 2nd term"! Moore had her chance and blew it! The voters will be out in force Feburary 26th to send Moore packing you can count on that.

From your post I'm thinking that not only Moore is CRAZY but so is her stormy supporter. You sound like some closet nut job. "THE ON COMING STORM" EEEEW scary.

"Townships may be consolidate or merged, and ONE or more townships may be DISSOLVED or divided, when approved by referendum in each township affected". Article VII, Section 5, Illinois State Constitution, 1970. (emphasis added).

Pete, you might need to start using that button during the upcoming local election season, which kicks off formally on Tuesday with the beginning of petition circulation. Regrettably, as long as voters think they can post online & be anonymous, they will do the drive by that we have been seeing in response to this article.

At the very least, only let people with Blogger/Google accounts whom you have approved be permitted to comment on certain articles, like elections-related. Hope this suggestion helps.

Interestingly enough, does anyone know what U of I degree Moore holds? She made a big deal about telling people she had a U of I degree, but never shared with the voters what she majored in. For all we know, did she even go to school?

Obviously, Mr Waitzman went to law school and also studied accounting, or the people that hired him would not have done so without verifying credentials.

Believe she went to the Ag School at the U of I.

So she, what, learned how to milk a cow or something?

To me the core question is: are taxpayers better off under her "leadership" than we were before she took over as supreme supervisor? The obvious answer is a resounding and unquestionable "heck no"!!!

After three years of uninterrupted lawsuits, Moore's legacy will be the wasted dollars she stuffed into the waistbands if various attorneys -period. Over $600,000 -gone. People actually worked for that money, and she recklessly spent it, while pocketing $60,000 a year in paychecks. Ugh.
