W. Dundee Break To Increase Evening Home Commute

Area commuters may have a long ride home this evening--and for the next three or four days--thanks to a water main break in West Dundee that will shut westbound Route 72 traffic down to only one lane at Second Street.  Public Works Director Rich Babica said, "It's only  westbound so the morning won't be so bad."

West Dundee suggests drivers seek alternate routes, likely increasing traffic over I-90, Carpentersville's Main Street and Route 72 at Algonquin.

Babica said the main itself will be fixed today.  It's replacing the overlying pavement that will take all the time.  "It's concrete. (Illinois Department of Transportation) specifies 72 hours to cure before we put traffic over it," he said.
