Transportation Needs For 2040 Include More Than Roads

If there's been a theme to the more than 1,700 comments to McHenry County Division of Transportation on plans for 2040, it's that residents want more than roads, said Design Chief Wally Dittrich at a Crystal Lake MCDOT Open House Thursday.  "They want sidewalks and bike paths and buses," he said. "It's We need it all."

The problem, of course, is how to pay for it all.  Dittrich said figuring that out is the next step in the 2040 Transportation planning process.  "We'll prioritize it.  We'll have a list," said Dittich.  "And then on the other side we'll have the money.  That'll be part of the next meetings."

Expect that when?  "Probably in January," said Dittrich.

In the pick:  Bus transit, such as it currently is, in McHenry County.
