Morning Fire Damages Algonquin Home

A morning fire drove an unincorporated Algonquin family from their home Wednesday.  Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection firefighters were called to 4508 Greenwood Court shortly before 8 am when residents reported their home was filling up with smoke.

Crewmen put out the smoky fire and remained on the scene until after 11 investigating it afterward but Battalion Chief John Knebl said no cause had been found yet. There were no injuries in the fire and family members said Wednesday afternoon they planned to stay with neighbors.

Knebl said the smoke alarm at the residence was working and reminded residents that there is a greater than 50 percent chance of surviving a home fire when there is a working smoke alarm.
