Klasen To Reopen But Virginia To Close Monday At 31

Route 31 Construction workers prepared Friday to reopen access to Klasen Road Monday but they also got ready to shut off the intersection with Virigina Road.

Monday traffic will shift over to the new pavement on the east side of Route 31, according to project officials. Klasen Road will reopen after being closed since June 25 and the traffic signal will be reactivated. Meanwhile Virginia Road will be shut off for about a month while crews move the intersection north. Virginia traffic will detour up to Rakow Road and then west back to Virginia.

Access to the businesses on Virginia Road and Trinity Drive will continue to be maintained through the Trinity Drive intersection.

About half of the 2.5 miles of storm sewers included in the project have been installed now and McHenry Division of Transportation officials still think it can hit the estimated completion date of Nov. 30.

"Please be cautious driving through the work zone the week of the 13th as motorists will be getting used to the new traffic pattern," read a construction release.
