Grafton Food Pantry Seeks New Home

The Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry held an open house Sunday afternoon to showcase its new Pyott Road location in Lake in the Hills.  Sunday evening Grafton Food Pantry officials announced they're going to need a new facility soon, too.

The Grafton Pantry helps feed about 200 area families a month right now. A local business donated unused warehouse space to house the Pantry three years ago but court records show the building has been in foreclosure proceedings since February.

Pantry members have been networking since at least the beginning of the month to find a new location the non-profit can afford to rent but, so far, to no avail. "Ideally, we would like to stay in Huntley and find a space at a reasonable rate that is approximately 2500 square feet," said Board Member and spokesman Harriet Ford. According to one informed source, the Grafton Pantry has until the end of the year to vacate the Smith Drive location.  Potential landlords can reach the Pantry at 847 612-5459, Ford said.

In the pic: (above)  The Grafton Food Pantry will have to vacate this site soon. (below)  The Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry's recent  move worked well if the adjacent gardens are any indication.  They've yielded almost 900 pounds of vegetable produce so far this summer like this display Sunday.

Could the Grafton Food Pantry move back into their previous Vine Street location when Linda is ousted this spring? I know Linda blames the trustees for EVERYTHING, yet the trustees had nothing to do with the food pantry being booted from Vine Street. That's all Linda! I hope they find a great location.

There is so many vacant warehouses in Huntley I am not sure how no one would be willing to occupy the space for this group and get a nice tax write off. I hope they find a place, they do such good.

Look in carpentersville. It would be more convenient for all the illegals that make use of the panntry.

I live in Carpentersville, and think your remark is bordering on racism.

Plenty of people all over the country are in need of assistance, and I would prefer if you wouldn't try to slander my home town.

The improper use of capitalization when using a formal town name indicates the level of ignorance contained within your statement.

Have a nice day.
