Fresh sweet corn and just-picked apples featured at Saturday's Huntley Farmers' Market. Apples? Well, with last month's extreme heat it's been an unusual year. "Everything's about a month ahead (of schedule)," remarked one grower.
Saturday's edition included a home-cooking demo sourced entirely from market produce. Next Saturday's will feature a Garden Salsa competition. Registration will be from 10 to 10:30 am. Judging for hot, medium and mile salsas homemade by each participant (with written recipe) will follow immediately. An entry form is here: http://www.huntley.il.us/documents/GardenSalsaEntryForm2012.pdf
In the pic Sycamore resident Anne Scharlau visiting her daughter bought some fresh sweet corn Saturday from young Stephen Book and friend Abbie Donald at the Twin Garden Farms tent at the Huntley Farmer's Market.
