Sunday will mark the seventh annual Saint Margaret Mary Parish Summer Fest in Algonquin. The celebration, AKA, "The Taste of St. Margaret Mary featuring music, food, drinks and dancing will run from Noon to 8 pm on the Parish Grounds on S. Hubbard St.
Father Edward Staniukiewicz organized the first fest to raise money for the parish but it's open to neighbors, family and friends. "Spending money at the fest is not a sin," said Pastor Peter Sarnicki. "It is being used for building up the work of the community of Saint Margaret Mary.
The Summerfest bills itself as the area's best Polish American festival with both European and American food, Polish beer, ice cream and raffles. Kids up to 10 enter free. Eleven to 16 enter for $1. Adults 17 and up cost $4.
