Short Rain Mars Open For Algonquin Founders' Days

A small cell in a line of thunderstorms dropped bucketfuls of "20 percent chance of rain" on Algonquin's Towne Park shortly after the gates opened for Founders' Days Thursday.  That put a crimp in the Carnival For Special Kids and a literal damper on the Cardboard Boat Regatta but by mid-evening everything was dried out again.

Weathermen report, as has often been the case this Summer, the area is in a transition zone between a high pressure ridge and a low pressure trough which is flummoxing their computer models.  Their forecast is for a 20 percent chance of showers or storms this afternoon with a "slight" chance this evening and Saturday and lots of qualifiers in both cases.
