Route 47 Widening Already Sparks Huntley Business Recruiting

The Village of Huntley held a ribbon-cutting Tuesday to mark the official finish of the $23 million widening of Route 47.  "It was tough on everyone," said Mayor Chuck Sass. Thanks for your patience."

Huntley Special Projects Co-ordinator (fancy for business recruiter) Vic Narusis said the two-year construction project's already beginning to pay off.  Already announced is the return of manufacturer Impact Plastics from Elgin to which it had decamped four years ago.  It was only Tuesday, however, that Narusis told Trustees generator manufacturer and service company Lionhart Engineering, Woodstock, will move to Huntley, probably early next year.

"The widening and the tollway interchange are two big reasons they're coming to Huntley, Narusis said.

The ribbon-cutting also marked the mid-point of a the week-long Huntley Days sales and promotions event by local retailers.  A list of specials available is here:

In the pic:  Only about 60 people turned up Tuesday for Huntley's Route 47 ribbon-cutting ceremony.  There might have been more for the historic occasion but the temp was still 97 degrees as people began to gather at 5:30 pm.
