Ribfest Helps Other Area Rotary Clubs Raise Funds, Too.
"We raised about $5,000 from it last year," said President-elect Jim Robinson. "We were able to give more scholarships to high school students because of that," he said. Huntley Rotary awarded four $750 scholarships at HHS this year. Last year's corn earnings also helped Rotary support the Grafton Food Pantry and Shelterbox, a national program to help people after natural disasters.
Joining Huntley Rotary at Ribfest this year is the Rotary Club of Carpentersville selling soft-serve ice cream cones--vanilla, chocolate and swirl. Member Siru Knox said the group has no idea how much they'll be able to earn at Ribfest to support, among other projects, a kids Winter coat program and the FISH Food Pantry in C'ville. Whatever it turns out to be, said Knox, "We're really happy and grateful (LITH Rotary) invited us to the event."
