Algonquin residents will have a chance Thursday to put in their own two-cents' worth about Downtown development as the Village's planning consultant holds a public workshop beginning at 7 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church and School. Land Vision, Inc. has examined the existing physical and market conditions so the Village is encouraging residents, businesses, and downtown property owners to provide their recommendations.
An interactive program is planned and persons interested in attending are asked to arrive 10 to 15 minutes ahead of the start to check-in and register. First there'll be an overview of initial findings for the Downtown followed by a series of small group exercises. For example, a visual preference survey will ask the public to choose their preferences via a keypad polling device for different types of building styles, parking arrangements, and recreational opportunities. Attendees will also be asked to brainstorm general enhancements for Downtown and mark on aerial maps where specific improvements ought to go.
