Algonquin's Founders' Days Parade is less than three weeks away so residents and spectators need to start familiarizing themselves with changes this year. Thanks to Edgewood Road's closure for reconstruction there are a lot of them.
It'll be a smaller parade than usual July 28, by intent only about half last year's entries. The parade will, likewise, be shorter than normal thanks to the loss of the Edgewood detour. For this year only, the parade will officially end on Main Street at the corner of Madison Street.
There will be no major changes to the parade's starting line up area at Algonquin and Eastgate Roads. The parade will turn from Eastgate Road West onto Algonquin Road then continue over the bridge and turn South onto Main Street like it always has. But the disbandment area at the end of the parade route will now be off Madison or Railroad Streets.
However, overnight, Police will have created no parking areas on Madison, South Harrison, and East Washington Street. They'll be reserved for floats and other entries after the parade. Floats and other parade entries will first be directed to disband East onto Madison Street to disband. If the Madison Street area fills up, then entries will be directed West onto
Railroad Street.
