Huntley Vet Phil LoMonaco was one of nearly 100 Honor Flight particpants who flew to Washington DC this week to tour the nation's capital. Stationed in the U.S., LoMonaco was a bomber gunner during World War II making him one of a rapidly-shrinking group lately called "The Greatest Generation". The Honor Flight program is meant to recognize the vets' contributions.
The Village of Huntley honored LoMonaco, too, late last month honoring his service to his country.
In the pic: Huntley Mayor Chuck Sass hands vet Phil LaMonico a plaque to honor his defense of the nation during World War II.
