The Village of Huntley announced Tuesday that the Huntley Fire Protection District had OK'ed this evening's fireworks show as scheduled. Fireworks in the likewise drought-stricken villages of Fox River Grove and Cary were canceled Tuesday for fear of fires.
To minimize the chance of a brushfire, HFPD planned to wet down the fireworks area near the Huntley Outlet center Tuesday and today. Tonight's Huntley fireworks show is scheduled to start "at dusk" which normally works out to 9 pm (ish). Don't forget mosquito repellent.
Huntley PD reported Tuesday eight extra officers will be laid on to handle crowd and traffic control at the fireworks display. "We ask that people be patient," said Deputy Chief Todd Fulton Tuesday. "It takes time to get all the people out of the area after the show," he said "Motorists should expect heavy traffic delays," Fulton added.
