Algonquin Sunday Barricade Ends In Apparent Suicide

Algonquin Police this morning said it was up to the McHenry County  Coroner to release the name of a man found dead in his East Side home, an apparent suicide, after a three-hour standoff with police.  A Coroner's spokesman said family notifications hadn't been completed yet.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, complete with MARV vehicle, was called in after Algonquin Police responded to a 911 call about an armed suicidal man barricaded in a home in the 900 block of Glacier Parkway.  The area was cordoned off and eventually police said they heard three shots from the home.

Deputies sent in a camera-equipped robot before SWAT members entered the  home at about 2 pm.  "We had to find out what transpired after the shots went off," said Deputy Chief Steve Kuzynowksi.  Police said they found the man dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot. No one else was reported to have been in the home.

Algonquin PD, and the McHenry County Coroner are still investigating what happened.

".. lets have a heart and wait"
That is something new from this news outlet, I'm surprised the writer hadn't already pulled up any criminal records or the like on the guy and aired all his dirty laundry like he has done with other victims in this town... good to see he's finally classing it up...

There are, at the moment, no public records accessible positively identifying the victim.

If that is the person, looks like it may be related to foreclosure?

How sad.

"If that is the person, looks like it may be related to foreclosure?"

That was the word around the neighborhood and facebook. It is sad that this is what our system is driving people to.

Yes, it IS sad that someone is driven to take their own life - IF that is the case here - by financial problems. However, we all have choices and choices have consequences. It seems that everyone wishes to overlook or change that: Make any choice you want, and Nanny Government will step in and protect you from yourself.

Perhaps we need to find the people that put a gun (literally or figuratively) to this man's head and forced him to buy that house, take out that mortgage or fired him from his job which caused the house of cards to collapse? Would that be the proper solution?

What a terrible system we live under: Expecting someone to be held accountable for their actions.

Shameful!

..sometimes life is overwhelming.sometimes everything is just too much..
...sometimes bad things happen to really good people...this was one of those times...
