Algonquin Group To Raise Funds Against Child Sex Exploitation

Another new entry in Saturday's Algonquin Founders' Day Parade was one by Algonquin's Red Dress Foundation NFP against commercial sexual exploitation of children.  The group, headed by Algonquinite Kristen Guerrieri, is planning The Red Run 5k Run/Walk at Presidential Park Aug. 11 to raise funds.

Registration for the event is $25 here:  http://theredrun.org/ . According to organizers, 1.2 million children are sold around the world every year and  100,000 U.S. children are forcibly engaged in prostitution or pornography yearly with the Chicago area one of the top locations on FBI lists.

The Red Dress symbol derives from a brothel in Cambodia where young girls were outfitted in trademark red dresses, according the Foundation.
