About 100 Algonquin Eastview Elementary School readers packed Dundee's Spring Hill Mall Monday for a Summer Reading Night celebration.
Eastview Principal Jim Zursin who traditionally rewards the kids' reading with an August cannonball into the Armstrong Lions' Pool said he amped things up a little this year partnering with B&N to lay on games and prizes and PTO-provided gift cards for kids who reached their reading goals. "It's a celebration of students' work," he said.
B&N spokeswoman Suzanne Lattanzia said the Eastview Summer reading program this year was unique among the 15 with which her store's involved. "He's got the kids reading all summer long," she said.
