Beubien Widow May Run For 52nd District Seat

The November race for State Rep. in The 52nd District including eastern Lake in the Hills and Algonquin might get really interesting with the rumored entry of Dee Beaubien, widow, of Mark Beaubien who held the seat until his unexpected death last year.

McHenry County Blog reported Thursday Beaubien plans a run for the spot against Republican Primary winner Dave McSweeney.  The Arlington Heights Daily Herald said Beaubien's only thinking about it.

Mark Beaubien was a Republican but since McSweeney won the GOP nod in the Primary, Dee Beaubien would have to vie for the spot as either an independent or a Democrat.  McSweeney was collectively outpolled by appointed incumbent Kent Gaffney and challenger Michelle Rowe but there wasn't much in common between the two except opposition to McSweeney.  Gaffney was the GOP establishment's choice while runner-up Rowe was a favorite among Tea Party Republicans.

What happens next probably has most to do with politics in Lake County where the 52nd District used to be centered and where a lot of it still lies after the new State remap.
