Yensen To Run Again For County Board

McHenry County Board District 5 Member Paula Yensen, Lake in the Hills, announced Wednesday she'll run for her seat again in 2012.  "I picked up my packet this morning," she told a group of fellow McHenry County Democrats meeting at Huntley's Pinecrest Golf Club.

Yensen's one of only two Democrats on the current 24-person McHenry County Board but and her group hopes to change that imbalance.  "Our goal is to have a candidate for every office," said County Chairman Mike Bissett.  "That's the County, the Legislature and Congress," he said. "I believe we have people who are qualified."

County Democrats have three more candidate and worker recruiting meetings scheduled this month, all starting at 7 pm.  They'll be next Tuesday at the Village Squire in McHenry, Sept. 19 at the Woodstock Public House in Woodstock and Sept. 28 at the Wool Street Bar and Grill in Cary.

Separately, the race for the remapped 33rd State Senate district including parts of Huntley, LITH and Algonquin, heated up Wednesday with a notice that Gilberts Insurance Agency owner Cliff Surges will formally announce his GOP candidacy Saturday.  Kane County Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay has already announced she's seeking the Republican spot, too.
