Tryon Blasts Campaign Reform Bill

In the wake of Friday's passage of a campaign finance reform bill, Rep. Mike Tryon (R)64 in a letter to area editors Monday flayed the measure.

He said, in part, "The people of Illinois have been through too many corrupt administrations, and should have campaign finance reform second to none.  This legislation protects the interests and the power of party bosses. The people of Illinois are tired of omnipotent party leaders who control state government with an iron fist."

Tryon complained the bill capped contributions by individuals, corporations, unions, and political action committees, but not on party spending in a general election.

"With the 2012 effective date, there is absolutely no reason that we could not have continued to work on this bill to make it right," Tryon said.
